THE COMMAND- PARADE PIKES-


Pike butt on hip or waist. Right hand high left hand low, point high. At the command MARCH- everyone walks forward. This is the position most commonly used for movement. The butt can be very hard on the pikeman without adequate uniform provisions. At a minimum a padded doublet with aprons or a skirt of padded panels, suitably re-enforced in the appropriate spots is required. In some instances a belt hanger was issued.


THE COMMAND GROUND PIKES-


Right foot on pike butt, left knee sharply bent, left hand supporting pike, right hand assisting or on sword hilt. This command is usually given to the first rank (row) only.
