THE COMMAND- LEVEL PIKES-

Facing slightly to the left, feet widely braced, hands three feet apart,
grasping firmly the rear third of the pike, point at chest / face level. This command is
usually given to the second and third ranks.
THE COMMAND- SUPPORT PIKES-

The pike is raised over the head and pointed toward the enemy to re-enforce the line.
This position is difficult and is used as needed at the last minute.
The Swiss used a variation of grounding the pike where the second rank stood on the butt
of the first ranks pike.
